About Eddie: I'm a dog on a mission. With your help, I'm going to change legislation in the U.S. to make sure chemicals are safe before they're put on the market. Read more or contact Eddie.

Okay, so things today didn't go quite the way we planned. The way we hear it, the meeting was a bit of a sham:
There was not one media question. A $26 Billion dollar a year industry - representing the concerns of 64% of U.S. households - and not one television network or major newspaper was there to ask questions for pet owners. Not one.
There was no representative from the Humane Society nor the ASPCA. The two largest pet o rganizations in the nation - that should be voicing the concerns of all the pet owners that send them donations - they were conspicuously absent.
There was no statement or questions from attorneys that represent thousands of pet owners in recall lawsuits.
There was no statement or questions from the Holistic Veterinary Association. No statement or questions from any veterinary school.
The most conspicuous missing statements were from the pet food industry itself. My guess is that they were in attendance - taking notes (which turned out not to be needed) as to how they were going to spin a statement or question that shed a dim light on the industry (turns out they didn't have to!). But they made no public statement. -Susan Thixton, truthaboutpetfood.com
So here's the plan: Since we didn't get to present your poo-bagged messages today, we're going to keep accepting them through June 10th. Then we'll send the messages all to the FDA electronically, before the period for public comment on this docket is up, and I'll deliver the poo-bags to the folks at the Center for Veterinary Medicine myself. Sound good?
Good. Here's how you can send your message in a poo bag. Thanks again to Susan at Truth About Pet Food for organizing us to get crap out of pet food, and to poopbags.com for their generous bag donation!

They need to be sent to the Humane Society and ASPCA too !
The next time the media needs to get involved first....there must be lots of dogs in Hollywood whose owners would go public...........that always seems to work!!
I don't understand why NO ONE was there to ask THE questions.....no media,HSUS.,the A.S.P.C.A.,not even the people who make things happen. What the heck?Come on people....let's get involve. My food is just as important as my human's.(She read this blog to me). Please, can't you humans help us out? My human thinks there should be regulations on our food as there is on hers..She tries to buy me and my big brother's nasty little girl...(she's a big Lab) good organic food.but it's hard for her to know if she's buying me good stuff. Please humans, help us out.We matter too!!!!! BTW, I"m a beautiful white and butterscotch cat who is very loved and pampered. My human and I are best friends!!
Yes, I would recommend getting some big name pet lover(s) to get in on this and then be sure to send out lots of news releases -- make sure that the media are aware what's happening. Staging a protest with pets and their humans is a good photo op that various media would probably be interested. My human is a former TV reporter so she recommends thinking about what would make a good visual for the news.
